What is Kombucha?

What are the ingredients in Kombucha?

How much should I drink everyday?

Known as the “Immortal Health Elixir” by the Chinese and originating in the Far East around 2000 years ago, kombucha is a beverage with tremendous health benefits. Kombucha is a fermented beverage of black tea and sugar (from various sources including organic cane sugar, fruit or honey) that is used as a functional food. It contains a colony of bacteria and yeast that are responsible for initiating the fermentation process once combined with sugar. After being fermented, kombucha becomes carbonated and contains vinegar, b vitamins, enzymes, probiotics and a high concentration of acid (acetic, gluconic and lactic), which are tied with the following effects: • Improved Digestion • Weight Loss • Increased Energy • Cleansing and Detoxification • Immune Support • Reduced Joint Pain • Cancer Prevention The sugar-tea solution is fermented by bacteria and yeast commonly known as a “SCOBY” (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast). Although it is usually made with black tea, kombucha can also be made with green tea.

How much should I drink everyday?

This all depends on if you are new to drinking kombucha and taking probiotics. If you’re new to kombucha, I recommend starting with 1 cup per day (1/2 cup for children). Then you can increase or decrease depending on how amazing you feel! The only side effect to drinking too much would be loose bowels (but that might be a good thing for some of us!)

Soul Booch is an extremely healthy probiotic drink. It promotes healthy digestion, healthy bowels and has so many other health benefits (weight loss, increased energy, cleansing and detoxifying, immune support, reduced joint pain and cancer prevention). We use the highest quality black tea, organic cane sugar and ultra-pure reverse osmosis water. Once the fermentation is complete, there is only a trace amount of sugar left. It then goes through a second fermentation with my flavours added. We flavour with herbal teas and we juice fresh organic ginger for the FRESH GINGER (We do not use ANY sugar for flavouring).

When kept in the refrigerator, the unopened jars can easily last up to 4 months. The longer it sits, it will continue to ferment very slowly, therefore the flavor will become less sweet as time goes on but it’s still incredibly healthy.

What is the small floating thing in my jar of kombucha?

The SCOBY is an acronym: symbiotic culture of bacterial and yeast. And that is exactly what it is! A scoby is the living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform sweet tea into tangy, fizzy Kombucha. You may also hear the SCOBY referred to as “kombucha mothers” or “kombucha mushrooms” – they are all the same thing.

How much sugar is in your kombucha?

Does Soul Booch come in any other jar size?

In order to start the fermentation process you need sugar to feed the Scoby. The Scoby eats up the majority of the sugar (and caffeine). That's how the Scoby grows and lives. Most (or ALL) commercial Kombucha brands add sugar to flavor it during the second fermentation. That's why people think there's a lot of sugar in Kombucha. We add absolutely NO sugar to the second fermentation. We don't eat sugar in our diet so we don't want it in our kombucha!!
